Clarity in Care is a student-led nonprofit organization based on Long Island, New York. The organization's purpose is to make health literacy simple and accessible, especially for groups that typically lack resources. The website serves as a platform to post general information, share resources, and more.
Health literacy is the ability to access, understand, and use information and services to make informed health-related decisions. Essential skills include navigating the healthcare system, communicating with professionals, reading comprehension for labels and documents, and evaluating information to improve care. Health literacy direct affects a person's ability to manage their health, follow treatment plans, ask questions, and make confident decisions, allowing them to be better equipped to advocate for themselves and take control of their care.
